Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
By using Golden Hour Time, you agree to the following practical terms. This is a photography-planning tool, not a professional meteorological or astronomical service.
1. Use of the Service
Golden Hour Time provides estimated solar event times (golden hour, blue hour, sunrise, sunset, sun position) and optional weather context for any selected location and date. The service is intended to assist photographers, cinematographers, and videographers in planning outdoor shoots. It is not intended as a substitute for professional meteorological forecasting, astronomical survey data, or on-site observation. All calculations are performed locally in your browser using the SunCalc.js library.
2. Accuracy and Information Disclaimer
Solar times are calculated using standard astronomical algorithms that assume a flat horizon. Local terrain - hills, buildings, trees, and other obstructions - will alter actual sunrise, sunset, and golden-hour conditions. Weather predictions from Open-Meteo are forecasts or historical observations and are subject to change and regional variability. Golden Hour Time does not guarantee that predicted lighting conditions, weather, or solar events will match real-world conditions. Actual light quality depends on atmospheric conditions, local geography, season, and other unpredictable factors.
3. Intellectual Property
The design and code of Golden Hour Time are the work of its creators. Third-party libraries, fonts, and datasets are used under their respective licenses (SunCalc.js, Astro, Tailwind CSS, Open-Meteo, Google Fonts, world-cities-json). The site content is provided for informational and planning purposes and does not constitute professional advice.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Golden Hour Time is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. The site and its creators make no representations about the suitability of the information, calculations, or recommendations for any specific shoot, location, or production.
5. Limitation of Liability
Users are solely responsible for any decisions made based on the information provided by Golden Hour Time, including travel, scheduling, equipment use, and safety. Always verify local conditions independently before relying on the tool for critical planning. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Golden Hour Time and its creators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of the information, calculations, or recommendations presented here.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
The site relies on third-party services for certain functions. Weather information is obtained from Open-Meteo (forecast endpoint: api.open-meteo.com/v1/forecast; historical endpoint: archive-api.open-meteo.com/v1/archive). Typography is provided through Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). These services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. Golden Hour Time is not responsible for the practices or content of these external providers.
7. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated as the service or its practices change. Any significant updates will be reflected with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of Golden Hour Time after changes indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which Golden Hour Time operates. Any disputes arising under these terms will be handled in accordance with the applicable legal framework. If a specific jurisdiction is not designated, the terms will be interpreted in a manner consistent with standard practices for online services of this nature.
9. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms & Conditions, please visit the Contact Us page. The contact form collects your name, email address, selected subject, and message. At present, the form performs client-side validation only and requires an external backend service (such as Formspree, Netlify Forms, or a custom server endpoint) for actual message delivery.
